Mary, a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, grew up in D’Iberville, MS. She attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where she played tennis and graduated with special honors in 2013. She then transferred to the University of South Alabama where she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a B.A. in Psychology.
As a member of the first cohort of the UAB Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and Master of Public Health (MSPAS/MPH) dual degree program, Mary gained meaningful skills to influence both population and individual health issues. While enrolled at UAB, she created a mentorship program for Pre-PA students to help them become more competitive candidates and was awarded the Charles Brooks Award for Creativity by UAB School of Health Professions upon graduation for her involvement. Throughout her training and beyond, Mary volunteers her time providing mentorship to Pre-PA students with shadowing opportunities and guest lectures to various Pre-PA clubs and PA programs. She received a certificate of appreciation from UAB School of Health Professions for administering learning experiences to students in 2021.
Mary is licensed to practice medicine in Mississippi and Alabama. She is certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. In the past, Mary worked in neurosurgery, mental health, and as a PA student educator before joining the dermatology clinic. She plans to finish her Dermatology Diplomate Fellowship by December 2022. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, hiking, meditating, and playing tennis.
