Diamond Dermaplane combines two popular aesthetic treatments — dermaplaning and DiamondGlow® — into one customizable facial. Dermaplaning removes fine facial hair and dull surface buildup, while DiamondGlow exfoliates, extracts debris from the pores and infuses the skin with a professional-grade SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum.

Together, these treatments can leave the skin feeling smoother, softer, clearer and more hydrated with minimal interruption to your routine.

How does Diamond Dermaplane work?

The treatment begins with dermaplaning. A licensed aesthetician uses a sterile blade and controlled technique to gently remove accumulated surface cells and fine vellus hair, commonly known as peach fuzz.

DiamondGlow is then performed using a recessed diamond-tip wand. The device simultaneously:

  • Exfoliates dull surface buildup
  • Uses controlled suction to extract oil and debris
  • Delivers a selected SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serum to the freshly resurfaced skin

The treatment settings, diamond tip, suction level and serum can be adjusted according to your skin type, sensitivity and goals.

What concerns can Diamond Dermaplane improve?

Diamond Dermaplane may help improve the appearance of:

  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Dryness and dehydration
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Fine facial hair
  • Congested pores
  • Blackheads and surface buildup
  • Enlarged-looking pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Mild hyperpigmentation
  • Fine surface lines
  • Post-acne discoloration
  • Reduced skin radiance

The treatment provides superficial resurfacing and is not intended to treat every skin condition. Active inflammatory acne, significant scarring, persistent pigmentation, rosacea, dermatitis or other medical concerns may require a different treatment or evaluation by a dermatology provider.

What areas can be treated?

Diamond Dermaplane is commonly performed on the:

  • Face
  • Area beneath the chin
  • Neck

Your aesthetician will examine your skin and avoid active blemishes, open wounds, irritated rashes, raised growths or other areas that should not be treated.

What happens during treatment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your skin type, sensitivities, current products, recent procedures and treatment goals.

The skin is thoroughly cleansed before dermaplaning is performed. Your aesthetician gently glides a sterile blade across the skin to remove peach fuzz and accumulated surface cells.

The DiamondGlow wand is then passed methodically over the treatment area. As it moves across the skin, it exfoliates, extracts pore debris and delivers the selected serum. Soothing products, moisturizer and sunscreen may be applied before you leave.

The appointment generally takes approximately 45 minutes to one-and-a-half hours, depending on your skin’s needs and whether enhancements are included.

Is Diamond Dermaplane uncomfortable?

Diamond Dermaplane is generally comfortable and does not usually require numbing medication.

Dermaplaning may feel like a light brushing or scraping sensation. During DiamondGlow, you may feel gentle suction along with mild scratching, tingling or stinging. The treatment intensity can be adjusted if your skin is sensitive or the sensation becomes uncomfortable.

Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker?

Dermaplaning does not change the number, color, thickness or growth rate of your hair follicles. The removed vellus hair will gradually return, but it will not grow back darker or biologically thicker.

The hair may briefly feel slightly blunt as it begins growing above the skin’s surface, but it should return to its usual soft texture.

When will I see results?

Most patients notice smoother, softer and more radiant-looking skin immediately after treatment. The complexion may also appear more hydrated, while makeup may apply more evenly because fine hair and rough surface buildup have been removed.

Results vary according to your skin’s starting condition, the serum selected, your skin care routine and whether additional enhancements are included.

How long do the results last?

Many patients continue to notice a refreshed appearance for several weeks. The clinic’s current treatment protocol notes that the visible glow may last for up to approximately six weeks when supported by an appropriate at-home skin care routine.

Results are temporary because surface cells, oil and fine facial hair naturally return. Daily sunscreen and consistent skin care can help maintain your results.

How often should I schedule treatment?

A single Diamond Dermaplane treatment can provide a temporary refresh before a special occasion or whenever the skin appears dull, dry or congested.

For ongoing maintenance, treatments are generally recommended every four to six weeks. Your ideal schedule will depend on:

  • Your skin type and sensitivity
  • The concerns being addressed
  • How quickly your facial hair returns
  • Your current skin care routine
  • Other aesthetic procedures you receive
  • How your skin responds to treatment

The skin should be fully recovered before undergoing another exfoliating procedure.

Is there any downtime?

Diamond Dermaplane typically involves little to no downtime. Most patients can return to work and resume their usual daily activities immediately afterward.

Temporary effects may include:

  • Mild redness
  • Slight swelling
  • Tightness
  • Dryness
  • Tingling or sensitivity
  • Minor irritation

These effects are generally mild and short-lived. Rarely, more significant skin irritation or an allergic reaction to a topical product may occur.

What enhancements are available?

Diamond Dermaplane may be customized with additional services based on your skin and aesthetic goals.

  • TNS® Advanced+ Serum: A topical age-supporting formula designed to improve the appearance of coarse wrinkles, fine lines, uneven texture and sagging skin.
  • Lip infusion therapy: A targeted treatment intended to hydrate, smooth and temporarily plump the appearance of the lips.
  • Eye radiance therapy: A focused enhancement designed to hydrate and smooth the delicate skin around the eyes.
  • Lip or brow waxing: Unwanted facial hair may be removed to complement the treatment.
  • Brow tinting: Tint may be applied to temporarily deepen and define the appearance of the brow hairs.
  • Superficial peel: A light chemical peel may be added to address concerns such as dullness, dryness, clogged pores or mild blemishes when appropriate.

Not every enhancement is suitable for every patient. Your aesthetician will recommend options that can be performed without causing excessive irritation.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Before your Diamond Dermaplane appointment:

  • Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup when possible
  • Avoid scrubs or aggressive exfoliation
  • Follow instructions regarding retinoids, acids and acne medications
  • Tell your provider about all prescription and over-the-counter skin products
  • Report any allergies or history of severe skin reactions
  • Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Report recent filler, botulinum toxin, laser, peel, waxing or resurfacing treatments
  • Tell your provider if you are prone to cold sores
  • Report any active rash, infection, sunburn, open wound or significant irritation

Patients with sensitive or reactive skin may be advised to temporarily stop retinoids or other exfoliating products before treatment.

How should I care for my skin afterward?

The skin may be more sensitive after treatment. To protect the freshly resurfaced surface:

  • Use a gentle cleanser
  • Apply an approved moisturizer
  • Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
  • Limit direct sun exposure
  • Avoid tanning
  • Do not scrub or aggressively exfoliate the skin
  • Avoid retinoids, acids and other irritating products until your provider says they can be resumed
  • Do not pick at dry or flaking skin
  • Follow the personalized skin care routine recommended by your aesthetician

Makeup can usually be applied when the skin is calm and intact. Waiting until the following day may be more comfortable for patients with sensitive skin. DiamondGlow’s official safety guidance recommends daily sunscreen following treatment.

Who is a good candidate for Diamond Dermaplane?

Diamond Dermaplane may be appropriate for patients who want to improve dullness, dryness, congestion, rough texture or fine facial hair without significant downtime.

The treatment can be adjusted for many skin tones and skin types. Good candidates generally:

  • Have healthy, intact skin
  • Want gentle surface exfoliation
  • Are bothered by peach fuzz
  • Prefer a noninvasive treatment
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Can follow preparation and aftercare instructions

An individual consultation is still important because active or highly reactive skin conditions may require another approach.

Who may need to postpone treatment?

Diamond Dermaplane may need to be postponed if you have:

  • Sunburned or recently tanned skin
  • Chapped, broken or significantly irritated skin
  • An open wound
  • Active, weeping or severely inflamed acne
  • An active cold sore or herpetic lesion
  • An eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea flare
  • A bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection
  • A known allergy to a proposed serum ingredient
  • A raised or suspicious skin growth that has not been evaluated
  • Recently undergone another procedure that has not fully healed

Patients who recently received botulinum toxin or dermal filler are generally advised to wait approximately two weeks before treatments involving pressure or suction, although your injector’s instructions should take priority.

What are the possible risks?

Diamond Dermaplane is generally low risk when performed on appropriate skin by a trained provider. Possible side effects and complications include:

  • Temporary redness or irritation
  • Dryness or sensitivity
  • Small nicks or abrasions
  • Acne or folliculitis-like breakouts
  • Infection
  • Allergic reaction to a serum or topical product
  • Temporary changes in skin color
  • Prolonged inflammation
  • Scarring

Following preparation and aftercare instructions can help reduce these risks. Contact the clinic if you develop worsening pain, significant swelling, blistering, drainage, spreading redness, hives or another unexpected reaction.

How is Diamond Dermaplane different from either treatment alone?

Dermaplaning focuses on removing surface buildup and fine facial hair. DiamondGlow provides additional mechanical exfoliation, controlled extraction and serum infusion.

Combining the treatments creates a more comprehensive facial that can address peach fuzz, rough texture, pore congestion, dryness and dullness during the same appointment. Every part of the service can be adjusted according to your skin’s needs.
