How is Signature Glow customized?

Before treatment, your aesthetician will evaluate your skin, discuss the products you currently use and ask what you would like to improve. You will then select one of two foundational treatments:

DiamondGlow
Dermaplaning

You will also choose two enhancements to complete your facial. The treatment type, products, intensity and enhancements are selected according to your skin type, sensitivity and goals.

What is DiamondGlow?

DiamondGlow is a noninvasive dermabrasion treatment that uses a recessed diamond-tip wand to exfoliate the skin, extract debris from the pores and deliver a customized SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum during the same step.

Diamond tips with different levels of abrasion and adjustable suction allow the treatment to be personalized for your skin. DiamondGlow may be a good choice for patients concerned about dryness, dullness, clogged pores, rough texture or uneven-looking skin.

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliating treatment that uses a sterile blade to remove accumulated surface cells and fine vellus hair, commonly called peach fuzz.

Removing this surface buildup can leave the skin feeling softer and smoother while helping makeup apply more evenly. Dermaplaning may be an appropriate choice for patients who want a refreshed complexion without suction or serum infusion.

Your aesthetician will examine the skin before treatment and avoid areas affected by active inflammation, open wounds, significant irritation or another concern that should not be exfoliated.

What happens during treatment?

Your appointment begins with a skin consultation and a thorough cleansing of the treatment area.

When DiamondGlow is selected, the diamond-tip wand is passed methodically over the skin to exfoliate, extract pore debris and deliver the chosen serum.

When dermaplaning is selected, your aesthetician gently moves a sterile blade across the skin to remove fine facial hair and dull surface buildup.

Your two selected enhancements are then incorporated into the facial. Moisturizer, soothing products and sunscreen may be applied before you leave.

How long does Signature Glow take?

A Signature Glow appointment generally takes approximately 45 minutes to one-and-a-half hours.

Is Signature Glow uncomfortable?

Signature Glow is generally a comfortable, relaxing treatment and typically does not require numbing medication.

Dermaplaning may feel like a light brushing or scraping sensation. DiamondGlow may create mild suction along with a scratchy, prickling or slightly stinging sensation.

The DiamondGlow tip and suction strength can be adjusted if your skin is sensitive or the treatment becomes uncomfortable.

What enhancements are available?

Signature Glow includes two customized enhancements chosen according to your skin and aesthetic goals.

SkinMedica® TNS® Advanced+ Serum: Available with DiamondGlow, this topical age-supporting serum is designed to improve the appearance of fine lines, coarse wrinkles, uneven texture and sagging-looking skin.
Lip infusion therapy: Available with DiamondGlow, this focused treatment is intended to hydrate, smooth and temporarily plump the appearance of the lips.
Eye radiance therapy: Available with DiamondGlow, this enhancement helps hydrate and smooth the delicate skin around the eyes.
Lip or brow waxing: Unwanted facial hair can be removed to complement the refreshed appearance of your skin.
Brow tinting: Tint can temporarily deepen the color of the brow hairs and create a more defined appearance.
Superficial peel: A gentle chemical peel may be selected to address concerns such as dryness, dullness, congestion or mild blemishes when appropriate.

Not every enhancement is suitable for every patient. Your aesthetician will recommend options that complement your foundational treatment without creating excessive irritation.

When will I see results?

Most patients notice that their skin feels smoother, softer and more hydrated immediately after treatment. The complexion may also appear brighter and more refreshed.

Some concerns, such as persistent congestion or uneven texture, may improve more noticeably through a consistent series of treatments.

How long do the results last?

Many patients continue to notice a radiant, refreshed appearance for several weeks. The clinic’s current treatment protocol notes that results may last for up to approximately six weeks when supported by an appropriate at-home skin-care routine.

Results are temporary because surface cells, oil and fine facial hair naturally return. Daily sunscreen and consistent skin care can help preserve your glow.

How many treatments will I need?

A single Signature Glow treatment can provide a temporary refresh before a special occasion or whenever the skin appears dull, dry or congested.

For more progressive improvement, The Dermatology Clinic generally recommends an initial series of six treatments followed by maintenance appointments every four to six weeks. Your schedule may be adjusted based on your skin, concerns and response.

Is there any downtime?

Signature Glow typically involves little to no downtime. Most patients can return to work and resume their usual daily activities immediately after treatment.

Temporary effects may include:

Mild redness
Slight swelling
Tightness
Dryness
Tingling or sensitivity
Minor irritation

These reactions are generally mild and short-lived. DiamondGlow’s official safety information also lists temporary tightness, redness, slight swelling and a scratchy or stinging sensation as possible effects.

Can I wear makeup afterward?

Makeup can generally be applied after treatment when the skin is calm and intact. However, patients with sensitive or reactive skin may benefit from waiting until later in the day or the following morning.

Use clean brushes and applicators to reduce the risk of irritating freshly exfoliated skin.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Before your Signature Glow appointment:

Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure
Arrive with clean skin and no makeup when possible
Avoid aggressive scrubs or at-home exfoliation
Tell your aesthetician about all prescription and over-the-counter skin products
Report recent fillers, botulinum toxin, lasers, peels, waxing or resurfacing procedures
Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Report any known allergies or previous reactions to skin-care products
Tell your provider if you are prone to cold sores
Report any active rash, infection, sunburn, open wound or significant irritation

When DiamondGlow is selected, the manufacturer recommends discontinuing retinoids and other exfoliating products at least three days before treatment unless your provider gives different instructions.

How should I care for my skin afterward?

Freshly exfoliated skin may be more sensitive to sunlight and active skin-care ingredients.

After treatment:

Use a gentle cleanser
Apply an approved moisturizer
Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
Limit direct sun exposure
Avoid tanning
Do not scrub or aggressively exfoliate the skin
Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids and other irritating products until your provider says they can be resumed
Do not pick at dry or flaking skin
Follow the personalized skin-care routine recommended by your aesthetician

DiamondGlow’s official safety information recommends using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 following treatment.

Who is a good candidate for Signature Glow?

Signature Glow may be appropriate for patients who want a customizable facial to address dullness, dryness, mild congestion, rough texture, fine facial hair or early visible signs of aging.

The treatment can be adjusted for many skin types and tones, but it is not appropriate for every skin condition.

Who may need to postpone treatment?

Signature Glow may need to be postponed or modified if you have:

Sunburned or recently tanned skin
Chapped, broken or significantly irritated skin
An open wound
Active, weeping or severely inflamed acne
An active cold sore
An eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea flare
A bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection
A known allergy to a proposed product or serum
Recently undergone another procedure that has not fully healed

DiamondGlow should not be performed on compromised skin, including sunburned, chapped, irritated, broken or actively weeping skin. Your aesthetician may recommend dermaplaning, another treatment or rescheduling once the skin has recovered.

What are the possible risks?

Signature Glow is generally low risk when performed on appropriate skin by a trained provider. Possible side effects and complications include:

Temporary redness or irritation
Dryness or sensitivity
Small abrasions or nicks with dermaplaning
Acne or folliculitis-like breakouts
Allergic reaction to a serum or topical product
Infection
Temporary changes in skin color
Prolonged inflammation
Scarring

Severe irritation and allergic reactions are uncommon but possible with DiamondGlow. Contact the clinic if you develop worsening pain, significant swelling, blistering, hives, drainage, spreading redness or another unexpected reaction.
