How does Ultimate Glow work?

Your appointment begins with a consultation with a licensed aesthetician. After evaluating your skin type, sensitivity, current products and primary concerns, your aesthetician will select the appropriate DiamondGlow serum, treatment settings and three enhancements.

The treatment includes two main steps:

Dermaplaning: A sterile blade is carefully moved across the skin to remove accumulated surface cells and fine vellus hair, commonly called peach fuzz.
DiamondGlow: A recessed diamond-tip wand simultaneously exfoliates the skin, uses controlled suction to extract pore debris and delivers a professional-grade SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serum.

Your selected enhancements are then incorporated into the facial to create a treatment designed specifically for your skin.

Your aesthetician will examine the treatment area and avoid active blemishes, open wounds, irritated skin, raised growths or other areas that should not be exfoliated.

What happens during treatment?

Your skin will first be thoroughly cleansed and prepared. Dermaplaning is performed to remove peach fuzz and dull surface buildup.

The DiamondGlow wand is then moved methodically across the skin. As the device passes over the treatment area, it exfoliates, extracts pore debris and delivers the selected serum.

Your three customized enhancements are added during the appropriate stage of the facial. Soothing products, moisturizer and sunscreen may be applied before you leave.

How long does Ultimate Glow take?

An Ultimate Glow appointment generally takes approximately 45 minutes to one-and-a-half hours.

Is Ultimate Glow uncomfortable?

Ultimate Glow is generally comfortable and relaxing and does not typically require numbing medication.

Dermaplaning may feel like light brushing or gentle scraping. During DiamondGlow, you may notice controlled suction along with a scratchy, prickling or slightly stinging sensation.

The diamond tip and suction strength can be adjusted according to your skin and comfort level.

What enhancements are available?

Ultimate Glow includes three enhancements chosen according to your individual concerns and goals.

SkinMedica® TNS® Advanced+ Serum: An age-supporting topical serum designed to improve the appearance of coarse wrinkles, fine lines, uneven texture and sagging-looking skin.

Brow tinting: Tint can temporarily darken the brow hairs and create a fuller, more defined appearance.
Superficial peel: A gentle chemical peel may be added to address concerns such as dryness, dullness, clogged pores or mild blemishes when appropriate.

Not every enhancement is suitable for every patient. Your aesthetician will recommend options that complement your treatment without causing unnecessary irritation.

When will I see results?

Most patients notice that their skin feels smoother, softer and more hydrated immediately after treatment. The complexion may also appear brighter, clearer and more refreshed.

Makeup may apply more evenly because fine hair and accumulated surface cells have been removed. Results vary according to your skin’s starting condition, the serum and enhancements selected and your at-home skin-care routine.

How long do the results last?

Many patients continue to notice a radiant, refreshed appearance for several weeks. Results may last for up to approximately six weeks when supported by an appropriate at-home skin-care regimen.

Results are temporary because surface cells, oil, pore buildup and fine facial hair naturally return. Consistent skin care and daily sunscreen can help preserve your glow.

How often should I schedule Ultimate Glow?

A single Ultimate Glow treatment can provide a temporary refresh before a special occasion or whenever the skin appears dull, dry, textured or congested.

For ongoing maintenance, treatments are generally recommended every four to six weeks. Your ideal schedule will depend on:

Is there any downtime?

DiamondGlow’s manufacturer notes that temporary tightness, redness, slight swelling and a scratchy or stinging sensation can occur. Rarely, severe irritation or an allergic reaction may develop.

Can I wear makeup afterward?

Makeup can generally be applied once the skin is calm and intact. Patients with sensitive or reactive skin may prefer to wait until later in the day or the following morning.

Use clean brushes, sponges and applicators to reduce the risk of irritating freshly exfoliated skin.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Before your Ultimate Glow appointment:

Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure
Arrive with clean skin and no makeup when possible
Avoid scrubs and aggressive at-home exfoliation
Stop retinoids and other exfoliating products at least three days beforehand unless your provider instructs you differently
Tell your aesthetician about all prescription and over-the-counter skin products
Report recent fillers, botulinum toxin, waxing, lasers, peels, microneedling or resurfacing procedures
Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Report known allergies or previous reactions to skin-care products
Tell your provider if you are prone to cold sores
Report any active rash, infection, sunburn, open wound or significant irritation

Your aesthetician may provide different instructions based on your skin and the enhancements being included.

How should I care for my skin afterward?

Freshly exfoliated skin may be more sensitive to sunlight and active skin-care ingredients.

After treatment:

Use a gentle cleanser
Apply an approved moisturizer
Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
Limit direct sun exposure
Avoid tanning
Do not scrub or aggressively exfoliate the skin
Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids and other irritating products until your provider says they can be resumed
Do not pick at dryness or flaking
Follow the personalized skin-care regimen recommended by your aesthetician

Daily sunscreen is especially important after DiamondGlow and dermaplaning.

Who is a good candidate for Ultimate Glow?

The treatment can be customized for many skin types and tones, but it is not appropriate for every skin condition.

Who may need to postpone treatment?

Ultimate Glow may need to be postponed or modified if you have:

Sunburned or recently tanned skin
Chapped, broken or significantly irritated skin
An open wound
Active, weeping or severely inflamed acne
An active cold sore or herpetic lesion
An eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea flare
A bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection
A known allergy to a proposed serum or topical product
Recently undergone another procedure that has not fully healed

DiamondGlow should not be performed on compromised skin, including skin that is sunburned, chapped, irritated, broken, actively weeping or affected by an active cold sore.

Patients who recently received botulinum toxin or dermal filler are generally advised to wait approximately two weeks before a facial involving pressure or suction, although the instructions from your injector should take priority.

What are the possible risks?

Ultimate Glow is generally low risk when performed on appropriate skin by a trained provider. Possible side effects and complications include:

Temporary redness or irritation
Dryness or sensitivity
Small nicks or abrasions from dermaplaning
Acne or folliculitis-like breakouts
Allergic reaction to a serum or topical product
Infection
Temporary changes in skin color
Prolonged inflammation
Scarring

Contact the clinic if you develop worsening pain, significant swelling, blistering, hives, drainage, spreading redness or another unexpected reaction.
