Dr. Angela Wingfield
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana Dr. Angela Wingfield’s first introduction to Mississippi consisted of summer vacations to Bay St. Louis as a child. Later she explored central Mississippi during her undergraduate days at Millsaps College in Jackson. At Millsaps she graduated with honors earning a B.S. degree in biology and a B.A. degree in English. Dr. Wingfield completed her medical school and dermatology residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans where she had the priviledge of training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Dr. Wingfield was awarded board certification in dermatology in 2003. As a medical student Dr. Wingfield spent 10 weeks in the jungles of Indonesia conducting a research study on the treatment of a rare tropical fungal skin infection called Tinea Imbricata. This work was published in the well-respected British Journal of Dermatology. Her spirit for adventure and diverse patient experiences prepared Dr. Wingfield for her next challenge. In September 2003 Dr. Wingfield established the Dermatology Clinic, PLLC in Gulfport.
Dr. Wingfield’s practice grew by word of mouth. Patients who received good, honest, compassionate medical care referred their friends and family. Dr. Wingfield has always enjoyed the variety of patients and diseases encountered in the field of dermatology. She also has a special interest in cosmetic dermatology where her creativity can be explored. She enjoys the “sculpting” that can be done with wrinkle fillers, botulinum toxin injections, and lipodissolve. It is rewarding to be able to use lasers to correct imperfections in a person’s appearance thereby restoring their self-confidence and sense of well-being.
Being able to offer patients a full range of treatment options and cutting edge technology has always been a priority. Dr. Wingfield was the first dermatologist on the coast to offer both PUVA and narrow-band UVB phototherapy treatments for psoriasis and vitiligo, and today the Dermatology Clinic PLLC is a referral center for other dermatologists to send their patients for light therapy. The addition of a full range of lasers to the practice in 2006 has really expanded our services. We can treat birthmarks, remove tattoos, improve sun damage, rejuvenate wrinkled skin, improve acne scars, and remove unwanted hair.
The innovation continues at the Dermatology Clinic, PLLC. In October 2008 the clinic moved to its present site, a state of the art beautiful 10,000 square foot building which also houses Vivify Spa. Vivify Spa is the only medical spa on the MS gulf coast under the direction of two board certified dermatologists. The spa offers airbrush tanning, and a wide range of facial services from Silkpeel dermal infusion to eyebrow waxes. Being able to offer spa clients medical grade skin care products and services including chemical peels only offered under physician supervision has been a real advantage. Dr. Wingfield felt that Vivify was the last piece to complete the full range of skin care needs of our community.
When she’s not working tirelessly caring for patients and maintaining the level of excellence she expects, Dr. Wingfield enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
